This Privacy Policy applies to the IELTS Assistant mobile application (Android and iOS) and the website at ieltsexamassistant.com (together, the “Service”), operated by IELTS Assistant (“we”, “us”). By using the Service you agree to the practices described here.

1. Information we collect

Information you provide

• Account details — your name (or display name) and email address when you register, and an authentication identifier if you sign in with Apple or Google.
• Practice content — the essays you write, the voice recordings you submit for speaking practice, answers to questions, saved vocabulary, and notes you create.
• Support messages — anything you send us by email.

Information collected automatically

• Usage data — which modules you open, practice sessions completed, scores and progress over time.
• Device and diagnostic data — device model, operating system version, app version, language, crash logs and performance data.
• Approximate, non-precise identifiers used to keep you signed in and to prevent abuse.

Purchases

Payments for Premium and feedback credits are processed by Apple or Google. We do not receive or store your full card details. We receive confirmation of a purchase, the product bought, and a transaction identifier.

2. How we use information

• To provide the Service, sync your progress, and keep you signed in.
• To generate band estimates and written feedback on your writing and speaking submissions.
• To show your analytics and practice history.
• To process purchases and provide customer support.
• To monitor stability and security, diagnose problems, and improve features.
• To comply with legal obligations.

We rely on the following legal bases (where the GDPR applies): performance of a contract with you, our legitimate interests in operating and improving the Service, your consent (which you may withdraw), and compliance with legal obligations.

3. AI processing of your submissions

To score and comment on your writing and speaking, the text or a transcript of your recording is sent to a third-party AI processing provider that acts on our instructions. Submissions are used to return your feedback and are not used by us to train public models. Do not include sensitive personal information in practice answers.

4. How we share information

We share information only as follows:

• Service providers — hosting, database, analytics, crash reporting, and the AI feedback provider, each under contractual confidentiality and security obligations.
• App stores — Apple and Google, for purchases, subscription management and refunds.
• Legal — where required by law, or to protect the rights, safety and security of users or the Service.
• Business transfer — in connection with a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, subject to this policy.

We do not sell your personal information.

5. Data retention

We keep account and practice data while your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete or anonymise your personal data within 30 days, except records we must keep for legal, tax or fraud-prevention reasons, and aggregated statistics that do not identify you.

6. Your rights and choices

• Access, correction, deletion — you can view and edit your profile in the app, and delete your account and data (see Delete Account).
• Portability and objection — where applicable, you can request a copy of your data or object to certain processing by emailing us.
• Analytics and diagnostics — you can limit these through your device settings (for example, iOS tracking and diagnostics controls).
• Complaints — you may contact your local data protection authority.

7. Children

The Service is intended for people preparing for the IELTS exam and is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.

8. Security

We use encryption in transit, access controls, and reputable infrastructure providers. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. International transfers

Your data may be processed in countries other than your own, including where our service providers operate. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. We will change the “last updated” date above and, for material changes, provide a notice in the app or by email.
